PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a technique utilized in a laboratory to produce many copies of DNA. Where serologic testing can indicate exposure to an organism by detecting antibody levels, PCR can detect the presence or absence of a pathogenic organism in a clinical specimen. At IMUGEN, PCR is utilized to detect the causitive organisms of Lyme disease, babesiosis, anaplasmosis (HGA) and ehrlichiosis (HME).
