This analysis represents IMUGEN's most sensitive and specific tests for acute phase Lyme, Babesia and Anaplasma phagocytophilum (formerly Human Granulocytic Ehrlichia) infection and co-infection. The test components include Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for the detection of B. microti and
A. phagocytophilum and quantitative antibody capture (IgM, IgG and IgA) EIA for detection of early antibody to B. burgdorferi. In total, we believe that this analysis provides the most accurate and cost effective tool for the evaluation of patients with suspect acute tick-borne infection. If the acute specimen is negative (i.e. antibodies undetectable) and the clinical history strongly suggests infection, collect a convalescent specimen 3-4 weeks later.
