Lyme Disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) by PCR

DNA detection of the Lyme disease spirochete by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) in spinal fluid or synovial fluid. Whole blood specimens are discouraged due to the low concentrations of B. burgdorferi present in the blood during infection.
