Serum samples are tested for IgG antibody to Borrelia miyamotoi by indirect ELISA and IgM and IgG antibody to a Borrelia miyamotoi recombinant protein (GlpQ). Most patients acutely symptomatic with Borrelia miyamotoi infection are seronegative. If the clinical history strongly suggests infection, collect/submit a convalescent specimen 3-4 weeks later.
